notes

  • We built a website for a meetup that doesn’t need one

The meetup is a table, a time and whoever shows up. It absolutely did not require a design system, nine logo studies and an argument about a loyalty card.

The logo brief was awkward. A padlock is the laziest mark in this entire industry, and a coffee cup is the second laziest. We drew nine studies anyway, on the theory that you have to draw the obvious ones to get them out of your system.

Every option we liked leaned on the same joke. The grind is the coffee and the grind is the job — the ticket queue, the third phishing report before nine, the compliance spreadsheet that has never once made anything safer. Calling it The Security Grind meant we never had to explain the tone.

And the tagline took longer than the name, which is normal and still annoying. We landed on **Serious Security. Casual Conversation.** because it sets expectations in both directions: the content is real, the room is not a conference.

    See you Tuesday.
